This comes after public outrage and condemnation of the action taken by Perak’s health authorities.

According to the statement, a meeting was held by members of the Perak State Health Department and the school’s authorities. All six students who received the fine were also in attendance to file an appeal.
As such, the fines for the students have been reduced. However, another appeal to further lower the fine has been submitted by the school’s authorities, as they claim that the students are from low income families and will be unable to pay the fine.
In response to the appeal, an investigation paper has been opened and will be brought to the Health Ministry (KKM) for further consideration.
The Perak State Health Department also rebuked the school for not making sure that SOP procedures were followed on campus grounds.
The six students were fined for breaking SOPs for not wearing a face mask, wearing a face mask improperly, and not adhering to physical distancing rules in the campus canteen.
