The year 2020 has seen job losses and pay cuts for many Malaysians due to the pandemic. As businesses become more selective about the people they hire, more Malaysians find themselves in need of more skills to stand out in the pool of potential candidates or to start businesses for themselves.
As the country moves towards a more digital landscape, the government is also offering opportunities for Malaysians to upskill to better suit the changing environment.
The Digital Skills Training Directory allows you to pick and choose from a wide variety of courses endorsed by a panel of digital industry experts.
These courses cover a lot of fields related to the digital landscape, everything from programming to 3D animation to video game development to big data analytics to cybersecurity.
Not only are a wide range of courses offered, SOCSO will also be funding up to RM4,000 per person for those who are receiving unemployment benefits on the Employment Insurance Scheme (EIS). Funding is also available under the PENJANA Hiring Incentive for employers hiring new recruits under this initiative.
Additionally, these courses are HRDF claimable, so it will benefit even current jobholders. Employers who wish to upskill their current employees can claim the course fees back from the government.
Skills in these digital industries are crucial as the future lies in digitalisation.
