MOH Confirms Seri Pantai Student Suffering From Dengue, Not Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the Seri Pantai secondary school student which was rumoured to be infected by Covid-19 has tested negative twice for the disease.
Instead, the Ministry said, the form 5 student contracted dengue.

Referring to the contagious news of a symptomatic case of a student at a school in Seri Pantai, MOH would like to inform that the COVID-19 confirmation test has been repeated 2 times in 24 hours and found to be negative. Proactive action of close contact screening was carried out for 54 individuals involving 42 in national secondary schools, 4 family members, 5 family friends and 3 health personnel. All Covid-19 validation tests for these 54 individuals were negative.

Previously, he said, the Ministry has received reports regarding a symptomatic case and investigations have discovered that the student exhibited symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting on 9 August.
The student was then admitted to a private clinic on the next day, 10 August.
