Astro Awani stated that Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) was dissatisfied when its nomination in the 15th General Election (GE15) fell short of the 30% target set by the party leadership.

According to Wanita BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad, her party is aware that the priority right now is for BN to secure a win.

However, she stressed that they would continue to demand for the BN leadership to fulfill its promise of 30% women candidates, considering there were still states that have yet to dissolve their legislative assemblies.

There are still six states that has not been dissolved yet.

She promised to continue advocating for more women candidates to be included in the next state elections.

Previously, a majority of political party leaders agreed to allow more female candidates in GE15.

Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Mastura Mohd Yazid had earlier expressed her dissatisfaction with the quota for Wanita UMNO candidates.

Mastura is among the names dropped from BN’s GE15 candidate list.
