A four-year-old Indonesian boy tragically died after falling from the 35th floor of the Boulevard Condominium located at Jalan Perdana 3/10 Pandan Perdana, Ampang, yesterday.

According to Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak, the police were informed of the incident at 2.20 pm by the condominium’s security guard.

Mohamad Farouk said that the child’s mother, who had lived in Malaysia for the last five years, brought her third child together with her to the condominium, where she worked as a part-time maid.

“Prior to the incident, the mother had left him alone sleeping in the hall (of one of the condominium’s units) and went down to the laundry downstairs,” Mohamad Farouk said in a statement.

While she was at the premise’s laundry, the 36-year-old woman saw a crowd gathering. She approached the crowd and was left shocked when she saw her son’s body.

Mohamad Farouk said the victim was believed to have awoken and found that his mother was not at the condominium unit. He is then believed to have opened the unit’s sliding door and climbed on a chair near the balcony, before falling and succumbing to his death.

The boy’s father, who is also Indonesian, is working in Petaling Jaya during the incident.

The victim’s body was sent to Tuanku Muhriz Chancellor’s Hospital (HCTM) for autopsy.

The police are investigating the incident under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for negligence.
