The Immigration Department plans to review its MyTravelPass program to allow for more categories of travelers who are not required to apply for travel permits.

FMT quoted Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein who mentioned that the department would bring this to the National Security Council’s (MKN) Covid-19 technical committee.

It’s reported that, so far only these people are allowed to travel without the permit:

  • those working at Malaysian embassies, their staff and dependents
  • students at international universities with valid student visas and their dependents and also guardians (limited to two people) accompanying students travelling
  • foreigners with long-term passes
  • petroleum and shipping workers who need to sign-on with foreign ships

From 7 October to 10 September of this year, 356,510 applications have been submitted – 208,509 approved and 127,465 rejected, while 6,697 applications were withdrawn by the applicants themselves and 13,000 were currently being processed.

Based on reports from The Star, MyTravelPass makes it easier for Malaysians and foreigners to apply for entry or exit permits during the Covid-19 period.

If you want to apply for MyTravelPass, applications must be made 14 days before travel at https://mtp.imi.gov.my.
