Kuala Lumpur Will Bounce Back By August, Says FT Minister

The nation’s capital, Kuala Lumpur will be back and running as early as this August, according to Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
Berita Harian quoted the Minister who believes that city dwellers can return back to normal life soon when herd immunity in is achieved in the Federal Territory within the next two months.
He added that the same target has been set for Putrajaya and Labuan but by next month.
No one left behind
To ensure that this can be achieved, Annuar said that the Federal Territories Ministry launched an accelerated program called the MyMedic@Wilayah Mobile Vaccination Program, in addition to vaccination centres (PPV).
The program targets to vaccinate those living in People’s Housing Program (PPR), Public Housing of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), traditional villages, industrial areas, wholesale markets and homeless settlements to ensure that no one is left behind.
Kuala Lumpur is an economic center that stimulates growth throughout the country and it is very important to achieve cluster immunity quickly to ensure that all commercial activities can return to normal operations. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the National Recovery Plan in place in the management of Covid-19 by the end of this year.

From June 7 to last Tuesday, Annuar said that 38,856 doses has been given out to 14 PPRs and DBKL Public Housing and traditional villages as well as in eight industrial areas, including wholesale markets using 13 trucks.
The Ministry also plans to beef up the number of trucks to 40 and the Minister said that strategic discussions are on-going with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Covid-19 Immunization Task Force (CITF) for the addition of vaccines to Labuan.
Even the homeless are getting vaccinated
The homeless in city are not forgotten, as a total of 252 groups have been vaccinated at the Anjung Kelana Homeless Settlement Center and Setiawangsa Community Center, Annuar said.
He also mentioned that the Ministry is planning to jab around 6,000 food deliverymen and 7,000 food hawkers in the near future to give confidence to the public for business dealings.
When it gets the green light, we will start the vaccination process for food shippers this month and for food traders with Free Trade Territory licenses next month. We also encourage companies in the economic sector to ensure that all their employees are vaccinated to further facilitate business as well as connect with customers,” he said.
