Malay Mail Top English Daily During MCO
After the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO), media companies have seen an increase in readership as people want to learn more about the coronavirus and because staying indoors is kind of boring.
Seeing that reading news on the web was definitely a better alternative than staring at the wall for hours, numbers by the Malaysian Digital Association (MDA) showed a spike in traffic for local media outlets.
China Press saw the highest increase within the 7-day period with close to 280% more readers than usual.
According to a news report by Malay Mail, Malay Mail is the most read English daily in the same period, ahead of competitors like New Straits Times and The Star after seeing a 250% increase.
We can tell that they were quite happy with the achievement because they wrote about it on their site.
After the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced, Malaysians were urged to stay at home as a measure to break the chain of the COVID-19 infection.
All jokes aside, we want to congratulate Malay Mail for their achievement by providing up-to-date news to Malaysians and because we kind of work in the same building.
