Motorists on the North-South Expressway (NSE) got a shock when an empty trailer plunged off a flyover near Jalan Kuala Kangsar around 12.40pm today (19 August).

According to The Star, the incident caused traffic congestion stretching from Ipoh town to Tasek.

Acting Perak police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said the vehicle is believed to have experienced a brake failure.

This caused the trailer to crash through the divider at KM271 of the highway and fell onto the road reserve of Jalan Kuala Kangsar.

The driver of the trailer, D. Kumar, 50, from Butterworth, Penang, escaped with light injuries.

Bernama reported that the Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said there were no casualties or property damaged.
