Several Malaysian badminton players will take the court today in the Philippine’s Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) 2022 second-round hurdle for a place in the quarter-finals.
Men’s singles professional shuttler Lee Zii Jia is set to take on Indonesia’s Shesar Hiren Rhustavito after both players played a rubber set match against their respective opponents opponent in the opening round yesterday.
Another national men’s singles professional shuttler, Liew Daren, will also face an Indonesian opponent today in the form of Jonatan Christie, who is seeded fourth for the tournament.
In Men’s doubles, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will need to beat Singapore’s Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Jun Liang Andy Kwek if they wish to move to the last eight.
Meanwhile, German Open champion Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani will take on South Koreans Kang Min-hyuk-Kim Won-ho while Man Wei Chong-Kai Wun Tee will face host Philippines pair, Christian Bernardo-Paul John Banting.
Another Malaysian men’s pair, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi will have to perform their level best today after they were scheduled to square against Pramudya Kusumawardana- Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan today.
In women’s singles, the sole survivor from the Malaysian camp, Kisona Selvaduray will take on China’s He Bing Jao today.
In women’s doubles department, Anna Ching-Teoh Mei Xing will play against the top seed Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan of China.
Another pair, Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah meanwhile will play against Hong Kong’s Yeung Nga Ting-Yeung Pui Lam.
In the mixed doubles, Korea Open champions Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing will face India’s Ishaan Bhatnagar-Tanisha Crasto while Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai is set to take on Japan’s Yuki Kaneko-Misaki Matsutomo next.
However, it was the end of the road for Chen Tang Jie-Peck Yen Wei who lost to China’s third seeds Wang Yi Lyu-Huang Dong Ping earlier today.
Despite leading in the second set, Tang Jie- Yen Wei failed to keep their momentum and committed several unforced errors before losing 9-21, 19-21.
