Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying, our top mixed doubles team, was ranked #7 in the world and represented the country at the Tokyo Olympics 2021.
However, Malaysians all over continued their outpouring of support for the duo despite their defeat.
Goh Liu Ying suffers from chronic injuries which causes pain and requires constant care.
Her right knee had a meniscus tear and a partial ligament tear, and her left knee was also carrying a small meniscus tear. She had undergone surgery in 2014, but she still requires constant fluid injections into her knees as lubrication and cushioning, especially due to her intense athletic lifestyle.
In 2017, she had also injured her right shoulder.
