The number of positive Covid-19 cases in Malaysia is increasing at such a rapid rate that it has almost hit 20,000 a day.

So far, the highest daily ever recorded during the pandemic was on July 24 with 17,045 cases – bringing the total number of cases to 1,027,954 as of July 26, 2021.

According to previous MOH instructions, individuals undergoing Covid-19 testing must comply with quarantine instructions.

For travelers from abroad, they must undergo a 14-day quarantine period starting from the date of arrival into Malaysia.

As for close contact screenings, you are required to quarantine yourself for 14 days, starting on the last day you are exposed to a Covid-19 positive patient or if you are unsure, it’ll start on the first day the test is taken.

The latest instructions for residents of KL, Selangor and Putrajaya

The public is aware that infected individuals will be contacted by a health officer and will be referred to a hospital for treatment.

The patient’s condition will be assessed to determine whether they’ll be placed in a hospital or in a quarantine station for low-risk Covid-19 treatments.

However, starting yesterday (July 26, 2021), the Health Ministry has issued the latest directive in which residents in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya who are Covid-19 positive are NOT REQUIRED to go to the Covid-19 Assessment Center (CAC) if they have:

  • No symptoms, or
  • Mild symptoms

However, they have to isolate themselves immediately and undergo a period of quarantine at home.

What can you do?

Individuals who are found to be positive and asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic should take note that:

  • Inform the results of the screening test in the MySejahtera application.
  • Digital Home Surveillance Order (HSO) will be provided.
  • Complete the Home Assessment Tool (HAT) in MySejahtera.
  • Patient self-assessment will be monitored by CAC. Patients will be contacted if necessary.
  • Patients who need to go to the nearest CAC for further clinical evaluation will be notified via notification on MySejahtera or contacted the CAC Call Center.
  • Patients who need assistance can call the CAC Call Center 03-7723 9299 (8.00 a.m.-9.00 p.m. daily) or the CPRC Hotline 03-7723 9300 (8.00 a.m.-12.00 a.m. daily).
  • Patients should be rushed to the hospital if symptoms worsen.

This latest directive is to ensure patients do not have to wait long at the CAC and patients with severe symptoms get immediate treatment.
