Malaysians get excited when they see bits of ice from a hail storm simply because it’s an unusual event in a hot, tropical country.
Thus, it’s not a surprise to see some netizens getting excited when a video allegedly showed snow falling in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Saturday, 12 February.
However, the excitement is short-lived because Sabah Meteorological Department director Amir Zudi Hashim confirmed there was no snowfall at all in the state.
Sad to say, the video that was circulating on social media channels was just a manipulated clip.
According to The Star, it was a video of regular rainfall in slow motion using a phone. This made the slowed-down raindrops look like snowflakes falling in the video clip.
Observant viewers will notice that the cars in the background moved unusually slow too.
At least, the video made someone’s day brighter for a few minutes.
