Sony just pulled the curtain back on their latest full-frame beast, and honestly?

The Alpha A7V – launched four years after the Sony A7IV – might be the camera that finally makes everyone else sweat.

This thing is packing AI smarts and flagship-level performance into a body that won’t destroy your bank account.

At RM11,999 for the body alone, or RM12,999 for the kit with Sony’s upgraded 28-70mm lens (which can now handle 120fps burst shooting – more on that insanity later), the A7V is positioning itself as the ultimate “working camera” for creators who need pro features without the pro price tag.

Here’s where things get interesting: Sony’s built this camera around their new BIONZ XR2 processor, and they’re calling their design philosophy “AI x Speed.”

This camera doesn’t just take pictures – it thinks about them.

Sony’s AI-Powered Speed Machine Just Rewrote the Rules

The AI-powered autofocus system now features “human posture estimation” – essentially reading body language to predict movement like a crystal ball, while tracking everything from insects to aircraft with 30% better accuracy than the A7IV.

This speed demon fires at 30 fps with zero blackout and includes “Pre-Capture”, which records up to a full second before you press the shutter, giving photographers a literal time machine for perfect timing.

Sony finally nailed the screen design with a proper 4-axis articulating display that’s half an inch bigger, while the 38-gram weight increase makes it feel more professional in your hands.

The video specs are equally impressive: 4K at 120fps in full-frame mode delivers cinematic slow-motion that used to cost twice as much, plus LUT loading for direct in-camera colour grading.

It’s clear Sony has crammed almost every flagship feature into a body that working photographers can actually afford – and with Sony’s hands-on sessions rolling out nationwide, photographers everywhere will soon discover just how game-changing this camera really is.

Sure, you won’t get every bell and whistle from their top-tier cameras, but for most people, this is all the camera they’ll ever need.

The A7V isn’t just another release – it’s Sony’s statement that AI and photography are about to get very, very interesting.

The specs that matter:

  • 33.1MP full-frame sensor
  • 30fps burst shooting (electronic)
  • 4K 120p video recording
  • AI-powered autofocus with subject recognition
  • 7.5-stop image stabilisation
  • Dual card slots (CFexpress Type A + SD UHS-II)
  • 630-shot battery life

Sony Alpha 7V must know specs! There’s a long list or upgrades with this camera but is it worth it? Imho: if you’re a photographer first, then yes it’s a good upgrade! I genuinely think this is a solid camera for photos. For video, I think there’s gonna be mixed feelings here with the 4K 120fps crop. Some of you might see it as an advantage because you can get extra reach. I personally don’t mind it because i mostly use zoom lenses so i have room to adjust.
