It’s finally here, the long-awaited iOS 15 that was announced at WWDC 2021 back in June is now available, ready to be downloaded and installed.

iOS 15 is the latest version of the operating system used on the iPhone. It comes packed with a whole lot of new features. We’ve covered them all in our summary of WWDC.

But that includes features available for the Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch. To make it easier for you to just jump in, understand, and try out all the new features on the iPhone, here are the 10 things you didn’t know iOS 15 could do:

  • Introducing SharePlay

You can watch TV programmes and movies, listen to music or share your screen while on FaceTime with family and friends, no matter the distance.

  • Invite anyone to FaceTime

Even your friends and family on Windows and Android can join you on FaceTime using a link.

  • Focus on what’s important

Choose from a list of Focus options or create your own to allow only the notifications you want. And for truly urgent messages, there’s still a way for people to notify you.

  • Get organised with Tab Groups

Save and organise your browser tabs and switch between them easily. Tab Groups also sync across devices so you have access to your tabs from anywhere.

  • Look back on your happy memories with new Interactive Memories

Use Memory mixes to personalise the look and feel of your story with a song and vibe to match.

  • Sharing is caring

Updates to the Health app give you new ways to share data with your loved ones. You can also receive important notifications about your loved ones’ health.

  • Accessible to everyone

Customise display and text size settings for each app. Explore people, objects, text and tables within images in more detail with VoiceOver.

  • See the Notifications that matter

Notifications include contact photos for people and larger icons for apps. And a notification summary helps you quickly catch up.

  • Experience the magic of Live Text

Live Text recognises text in images on your iPhone, the internet, and in real-time using the Camera app. You can copy and paste, Look Up, translate, and more.

  • Make Privacy a priority

Hide your IP address and location with Mail Privacy Protection. See how often apps have accessed data like your location and photos, and see if apps are contacting other domains with App Privacy Report.

  • Bonus thing you didn’t know iOS 15 could do

The new iPhone setup makes it more seamless than ever to get started with iPhone. Existing iPhone users can temporarily back up data to iCloud — even without a subscription — to easily transfer their data to a new iPhone.

For those moving to iPhone for the first time, an improved Move to iOS experience easily transfers photo albums, files, folders, and Accessibility settings.
