In perhaps the most unassuming part of Petaling Jaya, there sits a house-café on a corner lot that prioritises its marketing into a singular yet impactful sign: “Jual Roti”.
We’re not sure whether it was because they didn’t have time to complete their actual café sign before they opened the place, or if the overly simple banner was a marketing tactic.
In any case, it definitely piqued our curiosity.
A bakery with breads that will surprise you

Enter DDD Bakery Cafe, a charming new bakery and cafe in PJ Old Town specialising in fresh daily bakes, hot meals, and specialty coffee. It operates as a cozy bakery by day and a bustling, laid-back lepak spot with hot snacks by night.
As soon as we entered, our noses were greeted by the familiar and delectable aroma of freshly baked goods.
Despite the minimal exterior, the interior of the café is actually well-decorated with plants, quirky furniture, and warm lighting. Its staff were also very welcoming, and were more than happy to recommend their best menu items.

Try Semua Sikit if you are there for the first time
Seeing that it was our first time at DDD Bakery Cafe, one of their staff recommended that we try out their Try Semua Sikit (Try A Little Bit Of Everything) or STS platter.
The platter includes their signature Brioche Bun, Potato Bun, Muffin Bun, and three slices of Milky Toast served with a side of their House Basil Butter and some sweet homemade Pandan Kaya. It’s perfect for sharing so everyone can test and see which bread they like best — and then order more!

All the breads had one thing in common: they were all exceptionally soft and served warm. When paired with the garlic butter or kaya, it becomes a comforting burst of flavours and textures that just melt in your mouth.
We needed something refreshing to wash it all down, so we ordered the Fizzy Lemon Tea and Fizzy Yuzu sodas. Both drinks were not too sweet, which highlighted their natural flavours. Just remember to stir well first!

If you can’t get enough of their bread, just pick your favourite one off their display wall and take a few bags home to enjoy with their Basil Butter, Pandan Kaya, or perhaps your own homemade dips if you like to experiment.

Beyond the bread
Although we didn’t get to try the rest of their menu, the other dishes definitely look like they’re worth more trips.
One dish that caught our attention was the Dirty Cheesy Beef Rice, because as Malaysians, how can we resist a bowl of beef rice topped with gooey, melted cheese?
Their burgers looked enticing too, such as the Triple D Smash Burger that’s sandwiched between the café’s signature Brioche Bun!
So, if you’re in PJ and craving warm comfort food with a side of coffee in a cozy environment, be sure to stop by DDD Bakery Cafe.
