Right at the heart of the city at The Westin Kuala Lumpur, a new grill and bar restaurant named Ferria has opened its doors.

The luxe rainforest theme in the restaurant enhances the sensorial and gastronomic experience. Guests can choose to dine outdoors and enjoy designer drinks at the outdoor bar as well.

The Taste Test

The starters were excellent, especially the Jungle Jewel when it’s served hot from the stove. The Jungle Jewel is a tasty snack of sweet corn tossed in chicken lard for that delicious taste.

The Watermelon Poppers are topped with a tangy trio sauce which gives a fresh and thirst-quenching taste in the hot weather.

The Untamed Seared Tuna Salad also offered an excellent fresh snacking alternative while we waited for the mains to arrive.

If you don’t want the salad, the Prawn Fritters is another tasty snack as it comes with wasabi mayo for a slight spice kick.

For the mains, the XL Monster Roll was delicious with its soft homemade milk brioche and giant freshwater prawn with crispy French beans as the sides.

The Rocky Wild Chicken was roasted for 48 hours to bring out all the herb and spice flavours. However, I couldn’t really taste the chicken so I preferred the XL Monster Roll over this dish. It comes with a bed of crushed potatoes.

Up next was the Lamb Crossie which is literally a better lamb satay. The meat was cooked until it was soft so it was easy to eat and tasted good with the sour cream dip. You don’t need to play tug of war while eating this satay.

The Jungle Branches are French bean fries with wasabi mayo. While the others enjoyed the taste, I wasn’t fond of it after tasting the other flavourful food and drinks.

For spice lovers, they’ll love the Tarzan Arrabiata. The Tarzan Arrabiata has a nice spice kick and the soft-shell crab and clams were fried well. The crab was properly crispy and not soggy while the clams were juicy.

The Oceanic Olio is served with a huge fresh prawn and scallops, perfect for a simple dinner.

The final main dish for the night was the Wild-Spiced Lamb Pizza which consists of grilled lamb with a toum garlic spread. I find the flavours very mild so it’s not something to order if you’re looking for a savoury pizza.

For the desserts, the Grilled Crystal Pineapple is unique because it comes with coconut ice cream, a marshmallow, and vanilla butter crumble.

The ice cream was smooth with a mild coconut flavour and the grilled pineapple brought a sweet balance to the dessert.

Cake lovers will enjoy the Wild Expedition Tiramisu which is made of mascarpone, espresso, lemon zest and cocoa powder. The result was a cake with a zesty and creamy coffee flavour.

The Verdict

Overall, the top winners from our table are the starters, XL River Monster Roll, Lamb Crossie, Tarzan Arrabiata, and Oceanic Olio.

For the dessert, I preferred the Grilled Crystal Pineapple over the tiramisu. I find all the drinks we had were refreshingly tasty.
