You’re in KL and you’re in the mood for shawarma? Perfect timing.

Thanks to all the viral food videos we’ve been seeing on social media, we’ve collected a few places in Kuala Lumpur known for their shawarma.

But before that, what’s shawarma? Is it a wrap? Or a kebab? What about those served on the plates?

Shawarma is a Middle Eastern dish consisting of thinly marinated sliced meat cooked on a rotating spit or vertical rotisserie. Basically, it’s the meat, not the wrap!

The roasted meat (often beef and chicken, can also be lamb, turkey, or veal) is then sliced into even thinner pieces and served in a wrap. It can also be served on a plate with various other ingredients (hummus, veggies, sliced flatbread) or can be in the form of a sandwich (or some may even call it kebab).

So, enough with the formality, where’s the best shawarma spot at?! Okay, here we go!

Some of the best places to get your Shawarma in KL:

1. Halab Gate

Okay if you’ve been in KL long enough, you know this legendary place.

If you’re unfamiliar with KL, you might pass by this stall without realising it! It’s located in Bukit Bintang, among the fleet of Middle Eastern eateries (near Kunafa Crisp), opposite Hong Leong bank.
