Subway’s Introducing Their New Seafood Patty: Should You Try It? [Review]

Subway took a year to come up with an actually good seafood patty.

For those of you who don’t know, Subway only has two seafood selection on their menu which is their Tuna Sub and their Seafood and Crab Sub. But guess what? Somebody else is joining the party! Subway is introducing their new selection of seafood flavoured subs which is the Seafood Patty. Being a big fan of their seafood subs, I decided to give the new menu a try.

The Taste Test

Honestly, since it is a patty, I just expected it to taste like your regular seafood flavoured tempura nugget. You know, those processed food with a bunch of NOT SEAFOOD ingredients in them and then slapped with a seafood flavour in the end? Don’t get me wrong, they’re delicious and addictive, but well, it’s a nugget.

But I got my facts set up straight when I tasted this sub. I was expecting a plain chewy texture but my mind was blown when I can actually taste the seafood bits in it. Just as the ad described, it’s a golden breaded and crispy patty filled with juicy shrimp squid, and fish. You can actually taste some of the bits of these ingredients in the patty! Did not expect that.

But do not expect a whole 5 shrimps or calamari in there. The seafood parts are processed into tiny bits so you can taste some chewy elements here and there. It’s quite nice.

The Verdict

As someone who loves seafood, I love this new subway menu. If you love their Seafood and Crab Sub, you’ll love this one.

FUN FACT: Did you know that they took one year to R&D this patty? Well, it was worth it, I tell ya.

They recommend pairing this with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, onions, and their signature spicy mayo sauce, but you do you.

Additionally, of course, with any breaded patty, you need to consume it ASAP or it’ll get soggy and you’ll just be tasting the soggy breadcrumbs coat more than the actual filling. So don’t let your sub get cold. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

The Seafood Patty Sub starts as low as RM12.90 for the 6-inch ala carte and RM19 for the footlong. Mine was the combo of the 6-inch sub with a 16 oz drink for RM13.20.

It’s actually a wonderful taste for those average seafood lovers, so have these a try at your nearest Subway restaurant!
