The Taste Test

Firstly: the cake is pretty huge. The 1.3kg cake is meant to be shared by 8-12 people, so be ready to portion off parts of the cake to your family, friends, co-workers, or neighbours. But before that, take a moment to admire the work and effort put into crafting the cake and decorations.
Upon opening the box, you’ll be immediately hit with the pleasant fragrance of pandan. There are also strong hints of coconut and kaya, signaling that this will be a sweet dessert.

The cake is a feast for the eyes as well with its visually astounding toppings and bright caramel and green colours.
Inside, you’ll find a moist pandan cake infused with fresh pandan and coconut extract, frosted with salted gula melaka buttercream.
The cake itself is thick and rich, but full of pandan flavours. In fact, the whole cake kind of taste like if kaya butter toast was made into a cake.
The ondeh-ondeh is delightfully light and chewy, though it’s recommended that you eat them first as they do not keep well in the fridge. The chocolate “coconuts” are made with milk and white chocolate, which you can try to crumble into small pieces and eat together with the cake.

The Verdict
This is a cake to be shared, no matter how much you love cake. It’s extremely rich and filling, so start with just a small slice or else you will quickly find that it gets jelak.
Fans of richer cakes like American-style butter cake, pound cake, or sugee cake would like the heavy richness of the Pandan Delight. It would also go great with some light tea to wash down the creaminess.
Those with a sweet tooth would also like it, as it’s quite sweet from the copious amount of gula melaka used. All in all, it’s a decadent dessert to be shared with family and friends.
