It’s well worth a try, simply for quirky reimaginings of Malaysian favourites, such as the dish Pearl of the Orient, which is their take on Penang’s oh-chien (oyster omelette), except the omelette is baked in the oyster shell instead of the other way around. Or their Pasta Laksam-Mana, inspired by Kelantan, made with spaghetti cooked in mackerel lemak laksam sauce. Or their Bambootiful Char Siew, inspired by Selangor, which features roasted BBQ char siew chicken with bamboo butter rice. Or their Inkredible Laksa, after Laksa Johor, but made with squid ink spaghetti.
Their main menu item is the Pizza Tempeh Teratai, a crispy pizza topped with dehydrated hibiscus, tempeh, and lotus root on a spicy tomato base, a Malaysian inspiration that takes pride in Malaysian identity and celebrates the richness of Malaysian food and culture.
The team behind Knowhere Bangsar were motivated by their sentiment and nostalgia for local foods, citing inspiration from pop and Malaysian culture. For them, it’s all about having visitors experience familiar things in exciting new ways.
The special menu uses more than 63 ingredients and will be available from 1st August to 16th September 2020.
