M’sian start-up making vegan “pork meatâ€. Looks & tastes like the real thing
We’re all aware that eating a lot of meat isn’t good for your health but ignoring the sweet deliciousness of the sinewy goodness is just so dang hard!
Well, it looks like that won’t be a problem anymore thanks to a Malaysian start-up that’s making vegan “pork meat†with plants that LOOKS & TASTES LIKE THE REAL THING!
The “meat†is made using a bunch of plants like wheat,
shiitake mushrooms and mung beans- all mixed together to mimic the taste and
texture of pork.
Phuture Foods claims that the “pork meat†has all the essential amino acids, vitamin B12 and iron of actual pork with none of the saturated fats, cholesterol and antibiotics.
Yep, you read that right, soon eating “pork†will be considered healthy.
It also seems like the vegan pork meat substitute can be cooked in a variety of methods like frying, grilling, steaming and baking.
So, it looks like you can use this pork meat substitute in almost everything lah. Burger, dim sum, Thai food- all no problem.👌
According to Tech Crunch, the company has received support from Hong Kong-based angel investors and is looking to begin sales. The first batch will be available in Hong Kong in the coming months and soon they will move into the Singapore market and possibly Malaysia.
They also claimed that the “meat†is halal, so things are about to get real interesting…
