Produce permits or be penalized in Penang
Penang’s seasonal fruit sellers, especially those hawking durian, now need a permit to set up shop.
This permit also comes with a whole string of conditions, like…
â— no foreigners are allowed to operate the stall
â— no plastics to wrap or display the fruits
â— stall owners are responsible for the disposal of rubbish
The temporary license fees are also very minimal at about RM1 per day for every 40 square feet and there’s only a one-off payment for canopy fees.
Hopefully this doesn’t affect durian prices!
