What an incredible honour to be recognised by such a prestigious travel advisor, Condé Nast Traveller. This award proves that all our efforts in positioning and promoting the island as the most desired tourist destination in the world is paying off. Aside from that, we are also extremely delighted to share that we were voted by over a quarter of a million readers, making this an even more special occasion.

Commenting on this incredible achievement, Encik Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib, Chief Executive Officer of Langkawi Development Authority (LADA)

He also added that it is extremely heart-warming to know that our Jewel of Kedah is appreciated by tourists from all around the globe and we will continue to put their best foot forward in ensuring Langkawi is among the frontrunners in the international tourism industry. They feel like the island has great potential to set us apart from others, especially with our multiple tourist attractions such as the first UNESCO-listed geopark in Southeast Asia and one of the steepest cable car rides in the world topped with spectacular mountainous landscapes and crystal clear seas. Truly unlike any others.

Langkawi, the archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, is known for its rich tourism and an array of exciting places to visit. This year’s edition of the awards included this beautiful island, which beat out many well-known places like Phuket (Thailand), Ph Quc (Vietnam), Sri Lanka, Palawan (Philippines), Okinawa & Ryuku Islands (Japan), and Phi Phi Islands (Thailand).

There is no denying that a visit to Langkawi offers the perfect escape, allowing for an inexhaustible and rewarding experience. Wind down and relax at three of their world-class hotels, which were sure to make the Condé Nast Traveller list – The Four Seasons Hotel Langkawi came in at number 6, whilst The Datai Langkawi scraped into 10th place and The St Regis Langkawi rounded off the hat-trick for Langkawi. No other island in the world is able to claim to have three hotels in the top 20 list this year.
