#KitakanJiran Program Brings Computer Lab & Minecraft To Shah Alam School

With a new computer laboratory, students and teachers from SK Seksyen 17 can now improve their basic computer skills and be more enthusiastic about technology and innovation.

As part of Lotus’s Malaysia’s #KitakanJiran Adopted School programme, the hypermarket chain partnered with the ICT firm, VSTECS Berhad, to refurbish Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seksyen 17, Shah Alam’s computer laboratory and donated 50 laptops for its students and teachers. 

With a new computer laboratory, students and teachers from SK Seksyen 17 can now improve their basic computer skills and be more enthusiastic about technology and innovation.

Additionally, Microsoft Malaysia Education Partner also came to SK Seksyen 17 to introduce the “Modern Classroom” method and expose the schoolchildren to Minecraft! 

Officiating the event was Dr Sukumar Subramaniam, School Improvement Partners (SIP+) District Education Officer of Petaling Perdana, accompanied by Mohd Misbah Ajir, Headmaster of SK Seksyen 17, Azliza Azmel, Lotus’s Malaysia Corporate Services Executive Director and Li Chin Yeo, General Manager of VSTECS Pericomp Sdn Bhd.

She said that this responsibility includes offering customers affordable products of quality, enhancing the social status of local communities and providing opportunities for the schools to receive better education and added skills through a variety of programmes.

By investing in school facilities, we are helping to improve the learning experience and quality and inculcate positive influence on the attitudes and behaviours of both students and teachers.

Since 2016, Lotus’s Malaysia together with the PINTAR Foundation have formulated various programmes to enrich the lives of the children in its adopted schools.

Over the years, up to 57,000 underprivileged students have been positively impacted through the #KitakanJiran Lotus’s Adopted School programme. 

Lotus’s Malaysia wants to continue to improvise its lifelong learning initiative in a more structured way in which they are able to contribute and measure the results.

The retailer will continue to encourage its more than 9,000 employees across its business to engage and support schoolchildren through good education, health and nutrition awareness and greener living through various activities.

Lotus’s is also currently running the Teachers Leadership Programme with the PINTAR Foundation to enhance the capacities and capabilities of schoolteachers from its 63 adopted schools.

The seven-month programme consists of training, workshops, and professional sharing sessions to empower the role of an effective educator and leader and upskill their professional development that will enable the teachers to create the right learning environment for their students and encourage a growth mindset amongst their peers and students. 

The retailer welcomes any future collaborations with other parties to benefit more people and wants consumers to not only be seen as the preferred shopping destination that provides value, quality, and affordable goods but also as a caring neighbour that supports the community.
