Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is on the downtrend in Malaysia with 106,477 cases reported as of 18 June 2022.

However, it’s still approximately a 39-fold increase compared to the 2,710 cases reported for the same period last year, according to the latest report by the Ministry of Health.

HFMD is a common yet contagious illness that typically affects children below 5 years of age and can also infect adults and older children.

Due to its contagious nature, it’s still important for everyone, especially school-going children, to maintain their personal hygiene levels.

HFMD is highly transmissible among children in childcare and school because of toilet training, diaper changes, and the fact that children often put their hands into their mouths.

How to keep children safe from HFMD?

To help Malaysian parents combat HFMD, Antabax, Malaysia’s leading Halal anti-bacterial personal care brand is partnering with R.E.A.L. Kids, the country’s largest owner-operated kindergarten chain.

Students, teachers and staff will be equipped with Antabax care kits for on-the-go personal hygiene.

The Antabax care kit includes:

  • Antibacterial sanitiser spray
  • Bar soal
  • Antibacterial wipes that kill 99.9% of germs

Antabax has also come up with creative education materials to help raise understanding of the dos and don’ts of HFMD among children.

The education materials and tips on reducing the spread of HFMD will be distributed to all R.E.A.L Kids students nationwide.

The content, developed by teachers and caregivers, includes creative discussion and activity sheets for students to understand how to reduce the risk of contracting HFMD.

The Antabax care kit and education materials are aimed to emphasize good personal hygiene practices, which is in line with the company’s #BaxInAction theme.

To further help families combat HFMD, a promotional voucher is provided to help parents make their next Antabax purchase.
