Dom Pérignon takes to stage the launch of its challenging Vintage 2012 Dark Harmony creation in an intimate affair at Malaysia’s spectacular 60-storey skyscraper that boasts an elegant glaze of industrial rustic style – Event Hall of Ilham Tower.

Pushing the limits, Dom Pérignon explores the depths of a vintage gastronomic signature and food experience through an immersive full dark concept that silhouettes the unique facets of the brand – A strong representation of Intensity, Precision, Tactile, Complexity and Minerality. It challenges the mysterious and sober appearance of food, and allows the taste to reveal each facet in order to reach the aesthetic ideal of the Vintage, Dark Harmony.

Each vintage initiates a singular dialogue between Nature and Creation, a dialogue with the other Vintages. A dialogue between the wine and the person tasting it. For 2012, the colour is Dom Pérignon Dark, recognised by the penetrating darkness that belongs to it alone, just as it is recognised by the powerful shape of its bottle and the elegance of its shield.

“If there’s an icon among champagne brands, it’s Dom Pérignon. We celebrate this master creation, deemed one of the best outstanding and long-lived champagnes – Vintage 2012.  Dom Pérignon perpetually explores the edge of creation with each vintage, to reveal the harmony from an ever-changing nature, climate and the unique constraints that each vintage brings,” said Thomas Bouleuc, Managing Director of Moët Hennessy Diageo Singapore Malaysia.

Embraced by the belief that the essence of Dom Pérignon is Dark Revelation, this ineffable, captivatingly beautiful colour is a deep, polymorphic, changeable black with flecks of ephemeral starbursts reflected on its surface, as if light was hidden within its depths, illuminating its inner world. More than just a colour, it is a reflection of the soul of the wine, of its intensity, depth, sensuality, complexity, paradoxes and mystery.

Each vintage has its own way of attaining and embodying the spirit of Dom Pérignon, just as it also has its way of attaining and embodying Dom Pérignon Dark. While each vintage takes a chromatic path of its own, it always enriches the hues of Dom Pérignon Dark.

Combining intensity, contained tautness and extreme contradictions, the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2012 blend reveals a unique structure, resonating to the rhythm of controlled energy, channelled by an acidity and bitterness that bursts forth magnificently.

The vintage nose is full and varied, enhanced by the mingling flowers with fruit, and the vegetal with the mineral. The bouquet is tactile, subtly enticing us along a trail of powdery white flowers and nectareous apricot, followed by the freshness of rhubarb and mint and the minerality of ash.

Full of contrasts and contradictions, the energy dominates on the palate. After a welcoming opening, the wine quickly becomes vibrant and then literally explodes with a surge of effervescence and tonicity. Focused by acidic and bitter notes, the finish brings a penetrating tautness marked by ginger, tobacco and toasted accents.

The exclusive launch – attended by the society’s elite – takes on the form of an artistic brand campaign driving the vision of the highly anticipated Dom Pérignon Vintage 2012, a conversation with a harmonious tension between the singularity of the Maison and the character of darkness.

Uncompromising and unforgiving, Dark Harmony unveils a rippling masterpiece led by Man Chien, an artist that breathes emotion and life to fabric and exudes brutally honest artistic expressions, a sentiment much needed in the generic world. Accompanying this grand gesture is contemporary dancer, Wei Jun, a multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary artiste twining together in harmony showcasing surrealism and extravagance.

The ambition and drive behind the palate that reinforces the expression of “explosive dark harmony” is Chef Raymond Tham, the chef-owner of Beta KL and Skillet@163. The unrivaled, sophisticated balance that both challenges and delights are present notes that illustrates the five facets of the Dom Pérignon Vintage Dark Atmosphere.
