Subang Jaya, 1 April 2021: Taylor’s College and Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera signed a letter of undertaking recently to financially enable Bumiputera students to pursue a MICPA-CAANZ certification at the college.

Taylor’s College Campus Director, Josephine Tan, said that the partnership is beneficial for students who are looking for the resources to pursue an accountancy career.

“We know that during these times, more than ever, students are looking for help and for ways to achieve their goals. In this sense, our aim is aligned with Yayasan Peneraju’s, who have helped thousands of students over the years, providing students with the financial resources to become successful professional accountants.

“Taylor’s College is looking forward to working together with Yayasan Peneraju, to continue to empower students and build the nation,” she said.

Mohd Muzzammil Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Peneraju, said that strategic collaboration such as this is seen as a manifestation to realise the national agenda in providing greater opportunities to Bumiputera talents to excel their career in the financial sector.

As an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department, Yayasan Peneraju provides scholarships and financial assistance to increase the quality, quantity and relevance of Bumiputera talents in a high impact economy.

Mohd Muzzammil Ismail added that accountancy is one of the key areas where the country is significantly under-served, and that Bumiputera participation in professional accounting is very low. Hence, more effort is required to encourage more Bumiputera talents to pursue careers in accountancy and finance, to drive the country towards a high-income status.

To-date, Yayasan Peneraju has funded close to 5,000 future Bumiputera professional accountants and will continue to give the opportunity to more than 10,000 aspiring professional accountants by 2025 to meet the needs of a growing economy.

Taylor’s College student Mohamad Annas Safwan Bin Mohamad Zaki is thankful for the sponsorship as he is able to pursue his dreams without financial worries, in an institution that gave him excellent support.

“Yayasan Peneraju’s programme provided me the opportunity to pursue MICPA-CAANZ while putting financial stress aside. Personally, this sponsorship meant I was acknowledged, and it kept me motivated knowing that my hard work paid off and I am one step closer to realising my dream,” said Mohamad Annas Safwan.

“I appreciate that Taylor’s understands the hurdles that part-time students face, having to juggle commitments between work, study and family. I believe Taylor’s programmes are designed to accommodate to these by providing the best educators, comprehensive learning materials and a great support system for your studies.”

Graduates of the MICPA-CAANZ Programme will obtain two professional qualifications – Certified Public Accountant (Malaysia) and Chartered Accountant (ANZ).

Tan said that students who pursue the programme at Taylor’s, stand to benefit from the college’s digital learning infrastructure that give them the flexibility of learning on-demand, as well as personalised lecturer-student attention from experienced and qualified lecturers.

“Our students are assigned to small tutoring groups, hence many of our students can affirm the fact that their lecturers go above and beyond to ensure they are coping well – not just in their studies, but also in other areas of their lives,” she said.
