A 14-year-old girl was stabbed up to 16 times inside her school in Banting, Selangor, on Monday morning (6 July), leaving her with a punctured left lung and multiple wounds to her back and face.
The victim, a Form Three student at a secondary school in Kuala Langat, was rushed to Hospital Banting after the attack, which was reported to her father around 9.30 am by her teacher.
Her father, Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, 43, said he rushed to the hospital immediately after receiving the call.
“When I arrived, I could see her condition was serious. I was told there were between 14 and 16 stab wounds on her back and face,” he said outside the hospital’s emergency ward.
Doctors inserted a tube to drain blood from her left lung.
At the time of writing, she was conscious and able to speak.
Suspect Known to Victim; Was on Medical Leave at Time of Attack
Police confirmed the suspect — a 15-year-old girl — had been arrested.
Kuala Langat district police chief, Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, said the victim was in stable condition and that a full statement would be issued shortly.
The suspect was known to the victim.
Mohd Firuz said the two had been in the same class in Form Two.
He added that the suspect had been on medical leave for personal treatment at the time of the incident.
Father: Daughter Was Not the Intended Target
He said his daughter had never complained of any conflict with the suspect prior to the attack.
I feel my daughter was not the intended target — she may have simply been nearby when it happened.
Videos circulating on social media showed a girl in black walking through the school compound carrying a knife, with students running in the background.
Mohd Firuz called on the school to tighten security measures to prevent a recurrence.
