The Facebook post went up quietly: no dramatic appeal, no polished fundraising page.

Just a woman named Shark, writing plainly about hitting what she called the lowest point of her life: she had lost her job, and then a hit-and-run driver took out her car — the same car she relies on to carry out animal rescue work in her community.

The repair bill, she estimated, would run to at least RM2,000; she had not yet gotten a formal quote.

Her children needed food.

Her rescue cats needed care.

She posted her TNG e-wallet number and simply asked for help.

The Internet, At Its Best

Within hours, the comments filled up.

“Not much but hope it helps.”

Then another.

And another.

Donors who had never met her chipped in — some noting they were moved by photos of cats in diapers she had cared for.

A Maybank receipt shared in the comments showed a successful transfer, timestamped the following morning.

Those who know her say Shark is also an admin for DKM, a community group that has quietly supported other rescuers and pet owners over the years — the kind of behind-the-scenes work that rarely makes headlines.

The money raised will go toward getting her car back on the road.

For a rescuer, that is not a luxury.

It is the job.
