Ann Pow Sets New Record As First Malaysian Woman To Complete Ultraman Australia

Ann Pow, who is widely recognised as Malaysia’s most prominent female endurance athlete, just set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records as the first Malaysian female to complete the brutal Ultraman Australia recently.
Ultraman Australia tests the limits of human endurance through a race that lasts over three days and involves a 10km swim, a 421.1km bicycle ride, and an 84.3km run, totalling to more than 500km.
The Melaka-born athlete is no stranger to physical achievements. Pow is also the fastest Malaysian female triathlete, completing Ironman Langkawi in 11 hours, 55 minutes, and 44 seconds back in 2022. She later broke her own record with a time of 11 hours, 33 minutes, and 37 seconds at Ironman Malaysia 2024.
Ironman Malaysia is one of the world’s most physically demanding one-day endurance events, consisting of a 3.8km ocean swim, a 180km bike ride, and a 42.2km marathon run. It is held anually on the island of Langkawi, which pushes participants to their limits under intense heat and humidity.
She also represented Malaysia at the prestigious Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, in 2023, and in the duathlon at the 2022 Southeast Asia Asian (SEA) Games.
With Pow’s latest achievement, she not only holds a record, but also inspires a generation of women to dream bigger, break barriers, and redefine what’s possible.
Through a video posted by Arena Malaysia, the 30-year-old shared her journey throughout Ultraman Australia, such as the physical and mental challenges she faced, as well as the fulfillment she felt as she completed the gruelling race.
