A heartbreaking plea from an older sister has gone viral on social media, reigniting public attention on a missing child case that has remained unsolved for six years.
The sister, posting under the username urugly04._, shared photos of her younger brother Zahiruddin Putra, who disappeared in 2019 when he was just nine years old and in Standard 3.
He would now be 15.
“I miss him so much. Our family has tried everything to find him, but we haven’t had the luck to meet him again,” she wrote in Malay, asking the public to help make the post viral.
According to the sister’s account, Zahiruddin went missing while playing with friends in the evening near their home in Bandar Seri Putra, Bangi.
He usually returned home after Maghrib prayers, but that day he did not come back.

Father’s Persistent Search Remembered
The boy was known to pray at the local surau and play in the area below their flat before returning home, sometimes just before Isyak prayers (the fifth and final obligatory prayer in Islam).
Several social media users recalled seeing the boy’s father regularly posting about the case on Facebook over the years, even wearing custom t-shirts with messages about searching for his missing son.
“I remember his father’s posts on Facebook. He would even wear a t-shirt saying ‘looking for missing Zahid,'” commented one user, using what appears to be a nickname for the boy.
Another user who lives in the same area shared: “Sometimes I see your father riding his motorcycle wearing a t-shirt with your brother’s name on it.”
Community Rallies With Support And Suggestions
The renewed social media attention has drawn widespread sympathy from the public, with users sharing their own experiences of missing family members – including one whose brother disappeared at age 11 in Pahang and remains unfound even after their parents’ deaths.
Others offered practical advice, such as using Facebook missing persons groups or AI age-progression technology.
The family has provided a contact number (017-739 5031) and asked anyone who recognises the boy or has information to contact the authorities or bring him to the nearest police station.
For now, his sister’s viral post is the latest attempt to keep hope alive that someone, somewhere, might have the information needed to finally reunite their family.
