Tamil actor Silambarasan Tesingu Rajendar, popularly known as STR, drew mixed reactions during a recent public appearance in Malaysia, with fans praising his conduct while criticising his security team’s behaviour.
Social media posts from the event show fans expressing frustration with what they described as rude treatment by the actor’s bodyguards during crowd control efforts.
One fan posted: “Dear Bodyguards, plz dont be so rude.. We are all human beings, and so are you.. I understand you are working for money, but respect is a must.”
However, the same fan praised STR’s personal response to the situation, noting that the actor “got out of his car to talk to the man who had fallen down.”
Community Tensions Emerge Amid Security Controversy
The incident occurred during a public event near Jalan Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur, where he met fans.
There appears to have been poor crowd control, with the suggestion that if STR was more accessible to fans, people wouldn’t behave so desperately.
STR, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema, has a significant following among Malaysia’s Tamil community, as evidenced by enthusiastic attendance at events and robust online engagement.
In addition to ‘Arasan’, STR is also set to appear in another film titled ‘God of Love’, scheduled for release in April 2026.
The actor has not publicly responded to the social media complaints about the security arrangements.
During his trip to Malaysia, STR also visited fellow Indian actor Ajith Kumar Subramaniam at a car race event in Sepang.
