A heartwarming video of a Malay Muslim woman and her young son feeding stray dogs has gone viral on social media, touching hearts across Malaysia and beyond.

The woman, identified on the social media platform Threads as Airis (@airis.yasminn), was filmed at a commercial area roadside, where several stray dogs eagerly greeted her arrival, wagging their tails in excitement.

What makes this story particularly moving is how Airis and her son navigated religious sensitivities while showing compassion.

In Islam, direct contact with dogs is generally discouraged, but the mother-son duo found a way around this by wearing black gloves.

The video shows Airis carefully placing three bowls on the ground and dividing dog food among them.

Both she and her son then gently petted the friendly strays while they ate, showing no fear and plenty of love.

Going the Extra Mile

Airis didn’t just stop at feeding – she also sprayed the dogs with what appeared to be flea prevention treatment, ensuring they received basic healthcare along with their meal.

While the dogs enjoyed their food, her young son helped clean up, collecting used packaging and food scraps into garbage bags – a small but meaningful gesture that kept the area tidy and showed responsible pet care.

The touching interaction quickly spread across social media, with netizens praising the woman’s kindness toward stray animals and her role in teaching her child compassion.

“This lady is truly kind-hearted. Even the dogs trust her so much. Most stray dogs don’t usually let people touch them, especially when they’re eating,” commented one social media user.

Regular Acts of Masked Mercy

Many were particularly moved by how the family took precautions in helping the dogs.

“Even though Muslims generally can’t touch dogs due to religious reasons, the mother and son wore gloves to pet them. It’s such a heartwarming gesture,” another person observed.

The video clearly shows the stray dogs recognising Airis and anticipating her visits, suggesting this wasn’t a one-time act of kindness but a regular routine.

This story has resonated widely as an example of how compassion and kindness are not difficult to manage, with many praising Airis for teaching her child that caring for animals is possible even within religious guidelines.
