Get ready to lace up those sneakers and turn your weekend workout into a full-blown street party.

The Music Run Kuala Lumpur is cranking up the volume for its 11th edition on 18 April 2026, and this time they’re bringing 13,000 runners together at Bukit Jalil National Stadium for what promises to be the sweatiest dance party of the year.

This year’s edition comes with a new headliner: AFFIN Bank has stepped up as the presenting partner, which means their logo will be plastered everywhere from your race bib to that Instagram-worthy finish line shot.

But more importantly, they’re setting up their own activation zone in the Race Village – think of it as your post-run recovery lounge, but with better branding.

“We are delighted to welcome Affin Bank as the new Presenting Partner,” says Jeff Ross, Managing Director of Fresh Events Asia, probably while already planning the after-party playlist.

Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, the bank’s President & Group Chief Executive Officer, sees it as part of their “Always About You” promise – which sounds way cooler than typical banking jargon.

The partnership fits into their Axelerate 2028 plan, proving that even financial institutions know the best way to connect with people is through music and endorphins.

No Headphones, No Problem

Here’s what makes The Music Run different from your average weekend 5K: forget your AirPods.

The entire route is lined with speakers pumping out what they call “the ultimate running playlist.” It’s like running through a music festival that happens to have a finish line.

The concept is beautifully simple – music every step of the way, turning each kilometre into what they describe as a “rhythm-fuelled experience.”

Whether you’re a serious runner or someone who considers walking to the fridge cardio, there are multiple start times so everyone can find their groove.

Since launching in KL back in 2014, The Music Run has become something of a phenomenon, spreading across 13 countries and getting over 350,000 people moving to the beat.

The formula works: combine fitness with festival vibes, add a finish line medal, and top it off with live performances at the Main Stage.

Save Your Phone Battery for the Selfies

This year’s edition promises upgrades across the board – new run route, enhanced Race Village, and what they’re calling “exciting stage activations.”

In other words, expect more reasons to stick around after you’ve crossed the finish line and collected your medal.

Registration details are being kept under wraps until the New Year, so you’ll have to follow @themusicrun on social media or check www.themusicrun.com.my for the official word on how to secure your spot in this musical marathon.

Until then, start working on your running playlist – though honestly, with speakers lining the entire route, you might want to save your phone battery for all those finish line selfies instead.

The Music Run KL 2026 is shaping up to be the kind of event where fitness meets festival, where your Saturday morning run becomes the highlight of your weekend, and where a bank sponsorship actually makes sense because everyone’s having too much fun to care about corporate partnerships.
