Local comedian Jason Leong faces backlash for praising Jocelyn Chia’s controversial performance clip on Instagram.

Chia, the now infamous stand-up comedian from Singapore, made jokes about the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines MH370.

She also belittled Malaysia for “still being a developing nation” during her performance in the United States, which resulted in criticism from local artists and netizens.

In response, Leong commented on Chia’s Instagram video, saying, “I like this bit,” and even reposted it on his account, bluntly saying, “I love this bit.”

However, Leong’s praise for Chia’s performance clip was met with criticism from Malaysian netizens who accused him of agreeing with a foreign stand-up comedian and insulting Malaysia.

Despite the backlash, Chia responded to Leong, claiming that people took her jokes too seriously.

A Harsh Word Stirs Up Anger

Mocking and insulting Malaysia was the content of Chia’s performance at the Comedy Cellar Club in the United States.

The same video clip was shared on the club’s official social media site, Comedy Cellar.

In the show, Chia compared how her country became a first-world country despite being separated from Malaysia.

When my Prime Minister went on TV to announce that you guys (Malaysia) had dumped us, he cried because he thought we’re not going to survive without you.

She also threw abusive words at Malaysia and was insensitive to the tragedy of losing the MAS plane.

Malaysia? Okay. F*ck you, a**holes.

Singapore comedian Jocelyn Chia continued with foul words while making harsh jokes about missing flight, MH370.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir criticized Chia for her lack of compassion and etiquette, and Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon, apologized for her offensive remarks.
