A video of an e-hailing driver cancelling a ride after passengers attempted to overload his car has gone viral on social media.

The driver, who works for a popular e-hailing service, shared the video on TikTok.

He said the trip was booked by a female student at the University of Malaya.

@safrah699 budak2 UM ni mana boleh nak msk 6 orng dlm keta kan dh kena cancel dkt university belajar apa benda basic pun tak tahu.. #ehailing ♬ original sound – safrah699

In the video, the driver tells the passengers that only four people are allowed in the car, but they attempted to bring six.

The driver can be heard saying, “Empat orang aje, mana boleh ramai-ramai” (only four people, not more).

Despite the driver’s warning, one of the passengers insisted they could all fit in the car.

The driver then cancelled the ride and asked all the passengers to exit the vehicle.

Social Media Response To The Incident

The incident has sparked a debate on social media, with many users commending the driver for prioritizing safety over convenience.

Some users also criticized the passengers for attempting to overload the car and not following the rules set by the e-hailing service.

Netizens added that the passengers should have requested for a 6-seater car, which provides groups of more than 4 passengers a safer and more convenient way to travel.

In Malaysia, e-hailing services have strict rules on the number of passengers allowed in a car.

Overloading a car can not only result in a fine for the driver but also jeopardize the safety of all passengers.

The incident serves as a reminder for passengers to follow the rules set by e-hailing services and for drivers to prioritize their safety and that of their passengers.
