A touching story of compassion and kindness has gone viral on TikTok.

A mobile phone store owner has shared the story of an elderly man who was looking to sell his old Nokia mobile phone to buy rice.

The man’s plight was shared by Nor Asiah Kamis, who recorded a video of the old man holding his mobile phone in a black plastic box and saying: “I want to sell this phone, I need the money.”

Nor Asiah, the mobile phone store owner, explained that her store did not accept old mobile phones and pointed out that the current phone price was only about RM50.

However, the old man responded that even if it could only be sold for RM20, he could use the money to buy rice.

In a second video uploaded by Nor Asiah, it can be seen that she did not buy the old man’s mobile phone in the end but instead gave him RM300 in the form of charity out of her pocket.

The two TikTok videos of Nor Asiah have received more than 2 million views and have been shared widely on social media.

Netizens have expressed their sadness for the old man’s experience and their willingness to lend a helping hand.

This heartwarming story reminds us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life and that we can all do our part to help those in need.
