Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, the top-ranked women’s doubles team in Malaysia, has advanced to the finals of the Perodua Malaysia Masters badminton tournament.

In the semifinals, the duo secured a thrilling victory over Korean pair Jeong Na Eun-Kim Hye Jeong.

After falling behind by a significant margin, the Malaysian duo had to dig deep and fight hard to win straight sets 21-19 and 23-21.

The match, which took place at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, lasted 1 hour and 33 minutes.

Pearly-Thinaah had a shaky start to both sets, but they managed to turn things around with their grit and determination to secure their spot in the finals.

Speaking after the match, Pearly Tan said that it was a difficult and exhausting game, but they were motivated by their fans’ support.

She added that they stayed patient and enjoyed the game, which helped them to turn things around in both sets.

In the finals on Sunday (28 May), the Malaysians will face another South Korean team, Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee.

The Koreans advanced after defeating the Japanese pair, Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara, 21-19, 21-14.

Although Pearly-Thinaah beat them last year at the French Open, Pearly acknowledged that it would be a tough match and they would have to start from scratch.

She emphasized that they are not thinking too much about their opponents but focusing on doing their job well and playing their best.

It’s like a dream for both of us because we had to face some really tiring matches. Thank you to the fans who came to give support and it became a motivation for us in this match.

This is Malaysia’s first appearance in the women’s doubles finals since 2012, when Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui made it to the finals.
