A restaurant known as Garden Western Grill is now on the radar of the Ministry of Health Malaysia after a Twitter post about the restaurant has gone viral.

In the viral post, an individual believed to be a restaurant owner admitted to putting a special ingredient, which netizens speculate may have been dirty, in the food that was served to a food reviewer.

Twitter user @Cikgu_Anep, shared a screenshot of the post which was uploaded by the restaurant in question on their Facebook page.

The restaurant owner acknowledged in the message that he had added a “special ingredient” to the meal of an influencer who had previously visited his establishment and given it a bad review.

According to the restaurant’s owner, only individuals who work in the hospitality sector understand what is meant by that specific element.

“The Special Ingredient that is meant is a dirty and disgusting substance.”

Social media users who worked in hotels and restaurants said that a “special ingredient” usually referred to an offensive and filthy substance that the cook had knowingly added to the dish, such as phlegm or spit, or other bodily secretions.

They said it was a pretty common practice for “special customers” who complained or made a fuss in the restaurant.

Many voiced their disgust at the allegation and opined that the restaurant cannot accept criticism.
