Maszlee’s Daughter Is First Malaysian & Southeast Asian To Get 6 Outstanding Student Awards From University In Qatar

Malaysia indeed Boleh!

As Malaysians, we love to celebrate our citizens’ achievements in whatever positive way, especially in education. It undeniably makes the Asian in us proud, doesn’t it?

Well recently, another Malaysian national got an educational achievement that made us gleam with pride.

This Malaysian student didn’t receive one, but six awards in Georgetown University Qatar

Nusaybah Maszlee became the first Southeast Asian and Malaysian to receive 6 Outstanding Student Awards from Georgetown University Qatar, in Doha.

Nusaybah is a Bachelor of International Relations and Affairs student at the School of Foreign Services. She also became the first Southeast Asian and Malaysian to get a full 4.0 CGPA pointer in her university.

Besides that, she was also honoured with the Summa Cum Laude (with the highest distinction) award, the Dean’s List award, the most outstanding thesis, and the most Outstanding Student Award in the Political and International Relations field there.

According to Sinar Harian, this alum of Sunway University and SMI al-Amin previously took Political Science & Government at Sunway University and was also in the American Transfer Program from 2018 to 2019. According to her LinkedIn, she then pursued her bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Affairs in Qatar in 2020.

Nusaybah’s achievements became a source of inspiration for students all over the world, including at Georgetown University’s main campus in Washington and the Qatar campus.

Prof Dr Maszlee, who was previously the Education Minister of Malaysia from 2018 to 2020, is now a professor lecturing in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Cyberjaya. His wife, Dr Hamidah Mat is also currently a lecturer in the field of Education and social sciences at the Open University Malaysia (OUM).

Together, they have three other children, which are Sumayyah, 21, Rufaydah, 19 and Mujaddid, 14.

Netizens chimed in to congratulate her

Dr Maszlee posted a video on Twitter of his daughter receiving the award on stage, with the caption, “Malaysia Boleh.”

You can see how proud he is of his daughter.

The success was also shared by the President and Chief Executive Officer of EMIR Research, Datuk Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff on his Twitter account (@raishussin).

He congratulated Dr Maszlee and Nusaybah on her successful achievement.

Besides that, a lot of Malaysians chimed in to congratulate Nusaybah. Some were so amazed by her astounding intelligence and asked for tips.

Indeed Nusaybah has not only made her parents proud but the whole Malaysia proud of her achievements.
