Chinese singer Chen Jia, known for her renditions of Teresa Teng’s songs, has expressed her willingness to learn and perform more Malay songs after singing a Malaysian version of “Goodbye My Love” during a recent concert.

In an interview with The Rakyat Post, Chen Jia said she enjoys learning songs in different languages and would love to perform more Malay songs in the future if there are suitable ones.

Chen Jia’s performance of “Goodbye My Love” at the concert surprised the audience, as she had never sung a Malay song before.

In collaboration with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), the concert was held in KLCC in front of a sold-out audience.

Chen Jia also talked about her experience singing Teresa Teng’s songs and the pressure of representing one of China’s most prominent artists.

She said that while she felt some pressure at first, she now focuses on performing each song better within the realm of music.

When asked what kind of music Teresa Teng would sing if she were still alive today, Chen Jia said she thinks Teng would naturally choose songs with strong melodies, gentle and fresh styles, and abundant emotions.
