Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse has called on the police to investigate the person who recorded a couple’s lewd act in a red Axia.

Pua said the person who recorded the act had pretended to be a policeman.

The person also allegedly demanded to see the couple’s identification.

When they refused to do so, the unknown man had then tried to extort the duo. The man had also followed the couple until the Pasir Putih police station after they ran away from him.

Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse on why the police should investigate the man.

Puah added that he would be going to the Seri Alam district police headquarters tomorrow (9 April) to find out the latest developments on the case.

Puah, the former Johor PKR Legal Bureau chief, met the couple with their lawyer.

The couple, detained on Thursday (6 April), is being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code for gross indecent behaviour with another person in public.

No Small Matter

If convicted, they could face a maximum jail term of two years.

Puah said it would be too harsh for the couple if they were sentenced to prison, although he also stressed that they must face the music.

Their act was recorded in a 23-second video uploaded to social media and went viral.

In the video, the man who recorded the act was asked to delete it and promised to do so.

Many were aghast that such a video was shared with the public and called for its removal from social media.

Meanwhile, netizens also urged the police to arrest the man who recorded and uploaded the video.

They are indignant as it involved a teenager, while others pointed out that the man had broken the law.

Netizens also highlighted that no one in their right mind would record an indecent act and post it on social media.

What the man should have done, they said, is to alert the authorities right away.

At the same time, some gave ideas on tracking down the man.
