Malaysians have reacted against the latest allegation by Umno stalwart Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
The firebrand Pasir Salak MP said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) suffered from racial discrimination under the Pakatan Harapan government (2018 – 2020)
The Pasir Salak MP singled out former finance minister Lim Guan Eng in his verbal attack.
He said that many Malay officials have been expelled under Lim’s tenure and likened the Finance Minister’s office to a Chinese temple.
He also alleged that many people were wearing shorts in the ministry.
Tajuddin made the accusations during a Sinar Harian program recently, in which he was a panelist.
Tajuddin, who recently was an Umno Supreme Council member until he was sacked, was responding to a comment by the moderator.
The moderator said there is nothing wrong if officials are employed based on merit and qualifications.
He’s Been That Way His Whole Life
Netizens criticised Tajuddin and, calling Tajuddin’s bluff, said there weren’t any temple scriptures in the MOF during Lim’s ministerial tenure.
Instead, they found scriptures from the Quran, Islam’s religious text, in Lim’s office.

Journalist Rahmah Ghazali spent four months as Lim’s press secretary and was among those who rubbished Tajuddin’s claim.
She said the MOF’s interior remains unchanged from the previous administration.
She added that the staff was multiracial, everybody was busy with work, and they always went home late because there were so many things to do.
Saya kerja dgn menteri MoF selama 4 bulan selepas pembangkang ambil alih kjaan. Melayu ramai je, masa hari raya setiap dept buat open house. Pejabat menteri tu takde hiasan apa, default dari menteri lama. Team dia semua bangsa ada, dan hari2 sibuk selalu kena balik lambat.

At the same time, some responded sarcastically in ‘agreeing’ with Tajuddin.
When Lim was finance minister, they said everything at MOF was sinicised (make Chinese in character or form), from employee names to food and songs.

Does Tajuddin Have A Flamboyant Personality?
Netizens are puzzled as to why Pasir Salak, his constituency in the interior of Perak, continues to elect him as an MP.
Tajuddin has been holding the position since 2008.
Wake up la org pasir salak..tgk la buka mata luas² mcm ni ke yg u all nak sbg wakil. The dearth of a person of calibre there in PS? Naah couldnt be..

Tajuddin is no stranger to controversy due to his loose-cannon behaviour, especially in the Dewan Rakyat.
In May 2021, he was terminated from his Prasarana chairmanship after he remarked in a press conference that two LRT trains ‘kissed’.
His words drew public outcry as it was, in fact, a terrible accident that caused serious injuries to passengers.
True to his style, he also let loose a racist remark against a reporter during the same press conference.
In recent times, he fell out of favour in UMNO following his attacks against party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Perhaps it was a good decision not to have him as Malaysia’s ambassador.
