A police inspector who looked into the abuse claims against Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali said that the claim that Bella was burned by hot water from a thermos was not true.

Inspector Suhaili Mahad, 31, from the Criminal Investigation Department, Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters, said this was because the thermos, which was used as a case item, was in good condition and had no signs of breakage.

She stated that the statements obtained on the same day by separate investigating officers were consistent. The children said that another resident named Balqis had followed Bella over some snacks and that Bella had injured her entire body when she was hit with a thermos and it spilled on her.

There are no dents or any indications that it had been dropped. I do not think that the thermos falling on Bella occurred.

According to New Straits Time this led to a short fight between Zilfinaz and Farhan Maaruf, the lawyer who was defending the accused. The latter stated that the witness’s statement was only her personal interpretation of the events.

This is the opinion of the witness, she can give a statement based on parts of what she perceived, not a conclusion

Farhan Maaruf

She investigated all witnesses and this is her findings as an investigating officer.

Zilfinaz

We believe she does not have the expertise to say that the thermos is damaged in whatsoever way.

Farhan Maaruf

It doesn’t need an expert to determine any damage to the thermos. We can see the thermos’ condition, which was presented in court today. It is logical that if it fell, it will have dents.

Following this, Sessions Court judge Isralizam Sanusi recorded Farhan’s objection before dismissing it.

The witness then informed the court that Siti Bainun had broken one of the restrictions outlined in her permanent custodial orders for Bella, which was to ensure that Bella was not negligent while in her custody.

She claimed that the accused neglected to get Bella treated for her injuries and that Siti Bainun violated the custody orders by placing Bella in her condominium in Wangsa Maju rather than her family’s residence in Ampang, as specified in the records.

Who Is Siti Bainun And What Did She Do To Bella?

Siti Bainun, 30, is facing two charges of neglecting and abusing Bella to the point of causing the victim to suffer physical and emotional injuries at a condominium in Wangsa Maju here between February and June 2021.

The founder of Rumah Bonda told the Sessions Court that she served Bella rice with vinegar, turmeric, soy sauce, chilli, and bad fried chicken throughout the fasting month.

Additionally, the 13-year-old was forced to consume 20 “cili padi” multiple times every week.
