Bosses Should Give Time Off To Employees To Vote If Polls Fall On A Workday, Says HR Minister

M Saravanan that every Malaysian citizen above the age of 18 has the right to vote and fulfill their civic duties.

Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, minister of human resources, stated that if election day occurs on a working day, employers must provide employees with time off or leave.

He says that every Malaysian citizen older than 18 has the power to vote and fulfill their responsibilities.

The employers must comply with the government’s directive. They must allow employees to vote whether the employees are given occasional public holidays (cuti peristiwa), replacement leave or time off.

Saravanan stated that any employer that does not comply with this order would be punished.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yakoob announced the dissolution of Parliament on the 10th of October.

Dates for the next 15th General Election will be discussed and finalised during a meeting of the Election Commission (EC) on October 20.
