MOE intends to enhance the number of language subjects taught in national primary schools.

Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin stated that this is one of the government’s initiatives to make national primary schools the preferred option for parents.

Currently, he added, the ministry offers Mandarin, Tamil, and Arabic as extra communication language courses to students enrolled in national primary schools in the country.

The government will continue to strengthen Sekolah Kebangsaan through programmes highlighted in the Malaysia Education Development Blueprint 2013-2025.

said Razdi Jidin in a written parliamentary reply

According to New Straits Times, he stated that the government has implemented eight actions to enhance and empower national primary schools.

Apart from ensuring that all Year One students master reading, writing, and calculating skills, Radzi explained that other measures included holistic student development, which included cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects; creating a healthy school culture; and strengthening the curriculum and sports activities implementation.

Radzi stated this in a written parliamentary response to Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi’s question regarding the ministry’s efforts to attract more non-Bumiputera students to national schools.

Radzi also discussed the MOE’s other initiatives to improve SK schools.
