It’s hard for some to believe, but our government has worked hard to improve our lives.

For one, lengthy delays receiving MyKad are now a thing of the past.

You can skip the line with a phone call to the National Registration Office (JPN) to renew your MyKad and get it within half an hour after the application.

JPN’s official Twitter today said reminded the public that they can call the hotline 03-8880 8066 to apply for a replacement of a damaged MyKad.

The public can apply by calling the above hotline during office hours, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

The break is from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, and on Fridays from 12:15 pm to 2:45 pm.

According to JPN, those who apply to replace the MyKad over the phone need to meet the following conditions:

  • For Malaysian citizens only.
  • Apply for replacement of normal MyKad or defective chip/damaged card.
  • Application fee of RM10 (payment will be charged upon card collection).
  • The MyKad holder can only complete the application and collection of the MyKad; applicants under 18 must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians to pick up the MyKad.
  • The MyKad can be collected at all MyKad Printing and Distribution Centres (DPP) within 30 minutes after completing the application.
  • Any changes to address, religion, name and photo are not allowed.
  • A loss fee will be charged if the applicant fails to present the old MyCard when collecting the MyKad at the counter.

MyKad collection time for successful online application transactions is different depending on the choice of collection centre as follows:

  • After 30 minutes at JPN WP Putrajaya Headquarters, State Headquarters and all UTC Branches
  • After five working days at the Peninsular Malaysia NRD branch
  • After seven working days at NRD Sabah and Sarawak branches

However, the process will take one day for first-time ID card applications.

As for the faulty identification card replacement process, the completion period of the new card will take at least three months.

Seamless Online Convenience

JPN also offer online services to facilitate users. Among the services provided are:

  • MyKad Replacement System (faulty identification card)
  • Application Status Check (MyKad / MyPR / MyKAS)
  • MyKid Application Status Check

So, you don’t have to wait in line anymore for a call from any JPN or UTC Headquarters.

You just need to go to the website www.jpn.gov.my and select the services listed above.

In addition, JPN has also released a smartphone application where it can help solve problems when you are queuing at the JPN counter.

Among the features provided through the JPN InfoQ application are:

  • Number of customers waiting
  • JPN branch operating hours
  • JPN branch address

If your turn number is long, you can use this application to find out when your turn will arrive even if you are not at the JPN Headquarters.

The JPD InfoQ application is available for download on both Android and iOS.
