Malaysian national shuttlers Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik emerged as historic Badminton World Champions at the World Championships final at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium today, 28 August 2022.

Aaron-Wooi Yik are the FIRST Malaysians to ever win in the Badminton World Championships, dethroning three-time defending Indonesian team Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan.

They have made history with their tactical plays against Indonesia, resulting in a 21-19, 21-14 victory for Malaysia.

The last time a Malaysian pair qualified for the world championships men’s doubles final was at the 2010 edition in Paris, which saw Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong losing to China’s Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng.

What a fantastic win for the doubles team right as Merdeka is right around the corner!

Congratulations to our talented Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik! Let us Malaysians welcome our latest World Badminton Champions!
