Water supply disruption in Klang Valley is a never-ending problem.

188 areas in the Hulu Selangor district are experiencing water disruption from today to Thursday following asset improvement and maintenance works at the Sungai Rasa water treatment plant (LRA).

Head of Corporate Communications for Air Selangor, Elina Baseri, said the water disruption started at 9 am this morning (9 August).

The repair work is expected to be completed in all affected areas by 1:00 am this Thursday (11 August).

Therefore, users are advised to store enough water for the whole household and ensure all water storage containers are closed.

This asset’s improvement and maintenance work is expected to be completed by 9 pm today (9 August).

Water supply will begin to be distributed in stages to users after the water supply system is stabilized.

She said Air Selangor had moved water tankers to the affected areas by prioritising critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funerals.

For commercial customers, treated water supplies can be purchased at Air Selangor customer service counters in Petaling and Gombak regions.

For this purpose, commercial customers can use their respective water tankers at two water filling stations in Batu Caves and Damai Utama, Puchong.

Surviving Water Disruption

There are various ways of storing water to cope with water disruption:

1. Prepare a large barrel

Need to prepare this big barrel which is very useful when there is no water.

2. A pot is fine

If you don’t have a big barrel, use a pot or any kitchen item that can hold water.

3. Big plastic

Use a large plastic. Even plastic waste can be used, fill it with water and tie it. Save as much mana as you like. Some also put large plastic in the basket.

4. Water dispenser for the sink

It is easy to wash anything like a water pipe.

5. Use disposable plates, cups and spoons

No need to waste water supply for washing, buy stock for 51 hours without water. You can also use plastic as a plate.

6. Mineral water for drinking

Buy mineral water to drink. Stored water is used for more essential needs only.

7. Prepare food stock

Cooking usually uses a lot of water. Make a stock side dish and keep it in the freezer during the period without water. When you want to eat, just heat it.

8. Wet wipes

Use these for general cleaning instead of soap and water.
